Liberty City Link

When i first entered Professor Reisners Print News Workshop class last semester, i was shocked by the effort he put in trying to pick apart peoples fantasy ideas of how their careers would go. It was disheartening, and left me wondering if i had set my sights on something unattainable. As the class progressed, i learned what is really involved in journalism with the professors much lauded (and maligned) wit and passion. From there, it got exciting.

When the Liberty City project was brought up in the workshop class as a tentative idea for Reisner's Print News Reporting class, it became an obvious choice. Do i shy away from this opportunity to a teacher who may require less but in turn leaves you with less, or do i actively engage in something so terrifyingly exciting? I wanted in.

Though a slow process, the class seems like what would be an actual newsroom. I (gasp!) like attending it. Students toss ideas off one another and cultivate leads and stories. Its exciting. Everyone is in it together and it feels real. If anything, after being semi-concerned about whether or not i had chosen the wrong career path, i am confident that this is what i love and this is where i want to be.
