Gaining Momentum

The Liberty City project has gained a lot of attention. This is both incredible and overwhelming at the same time. The entire class semms so be in a bit of limbo; trying to go from idea to fruition, and Professor Reisner is doing an impressive job keeping up with all of it.
I have been looking for opportunities to spend time in Liberty City more often, because one of my greatest fear is continuing to find newsworthy stories. The budget lines we created took some time and effort and im hoping to become more aware of surroundings and note-worthy ideas.
In Print News Workshop, most articles were assigned and were done by very novice minds. The class was given an opportunity to create their own stories for the Miami International Book Fair this past fall, including reporting, thinking up and finding all angles to interview from, research, and of course writing drafts. My first time ever seeing a story all the way through from event/idea to a decent draft of an article was exciting. After Professor Reisner tore apart some syntax errors and basic issues with the sculpting of the story, i asked him what i did right.
He told me, "you got the story." To hear that pretty much sealed the deal in me signing up for the Print News Reporting class. Now, with a better understanding of journalism, reporting, how the professor operates, and how he expects me to operate I am ready and rivited to see through more and more stories that I have everything to do with from start to finish.
The fact that i have no clips and the South Florida Times has signed on with us is even more reason to get as involved in this as a can.
